Unemployment wasn’t on the agenda. . .

I have been a college graduate going on eleven months now and let me tell you, I did not have unemployment on the post grad itinerary.

Post grad life essentially scared me to death, and made me wish I could be an undergrad for at least a few more years. I made the decision to move home around six months ago (which can be a story for later) to figure out what path I really wanted to take (another story to come). My mother started a childcare and preschool facility around 15 years ago, which adds to the list of why I sought out a business degree. I took this as an opportunity for temporary employment, as well as a learning experience to observe a small business day-to-day. Within these last six months of working and living side-by-side with a community business owner, I was able to see the highest of highs, and now, the lowest of lows.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the state of Wisconsin deemed all childcare facilities as “essential,” meaning my mother was to keep her doors open, especially to the front line workers who needed childcare. After the first week of our government declaring a national emergency, enrollment at the school was low, staff were nervous to work, and everyday lives were left uncertain and confused. There were many business decisions to be made, and it seemed regulations and efforts changed by the hour.

I am now a week out from my mother having to “lay-off” her entire staff (including myself), and completely close the business doors due to the current Coronavirus pandemic. This situation is unprecedented and something no one should take lightly. There are many more affected than anyone could ever imagine. . .in many ways. And while I could go on and on about the negatives, I find myself a realist, as well as an optimist. I prefer to think logically, in addition to remaining positive. While it may be dark now, there is light at the end. . .

I made this website template almost a year ago with all intentions to pursue a live website, which obviously did not happen right away. I seem to have more time now than ever, due to isolation, quarantine, lockdown, whatever you must call it. . . you could say Quarantine Made Me Do It

let’s have some fun, share stories, help others via technology, and most importantly ~stay healthy~

biophilia - a love of life and the living world; the affinity of human beings for other life forms

I am fascinated with our world and the idea of everlasting interconnections with other living beings, the spiritual realm, and most importantly ourselves.
